No improvement except unwanted side effects

Matthias had some typical enlarged prostate’s symptoms such as frequent urination, weak urine outflow, being disturbed during longer motorbike trips because of pressure in the lower urinary system, etc. for more than 1. 5 years. However, he didn’t realize they’re signs of Benign Prostastic Hyperplasia (commonly known as enlarged prostate) untill he saw blood in urine and went to a major hospital to check. BPH medicines were prescribed for him for 6 months yet unfortunately the medication had no effect on his condition except undesired effects.

Looking for a treatment with least side-effects

As traditional treatment method’s side effects became major concern of Matthias, he started studying alternative treatments and Rezum, a new minimally invasive therapy for BPH stood out in this regard. After experiencing some severe cases when he was unable to urinate despite bladder, Matthias decided to have the Rezum procedure as soon as possible.

At that time, Dr. Suntchai  Wirotsaengthong at M Centre, BNH hospital was recommended to him by another patient. Being encouraged by doctor’s excellent knowledge and his clear explanation, Matthias placed his trust in Dr. Suntchai and let doctor take care of his case.

Dr. Suntchai Wirotsaengthong has been designated as a Center of Excellence for Rezum Water Vapor Therapy

It didn’t work from the beginning… it really takes time

The Rezum procedure was outpatient and required Matthias around 4-hour-hospital stay. Matthias woke up with a catheter installed and like most of Rezum patients, this thing was the most inconvenient part in whole treatment process. During the first week, Matthias experienced bleeding (more than he expect) and occasionally pain.  Becaused of pain, he needed to keep the catheter a few days longer and even after removal, urination was very weak.

“It didn’t work from the beginning, but things had gradually improved”, Matthias recalled about the recovery process.

And finally, the quality of life has increased

One year after having Rezum procedure done, now Matthias is very happy with the its result. Urine retention is 43 ml compared with 140 ml before Rezum. Urination frequency is also back to normal and there is no need to go to the bathroom every 30-60 minutes as before.

“My quality of life has increased, and I can recommend it as an outpatient procedure without any side effects”, Matthias said contentedly.
